Learning Tennis The Traditional Way Or The Natural Way

After years of learning tennis the traditional way, I discovered that simply trying to do what a tennis instructor says does not really work most of the time.
Concentrating on the usual mechanics - turning sideway, getting your racket back early, stepping forward, following through - leads to unnatural tennis. Do you know why?
It is because the thinking you expend on those mechanical instructions distracts your mind from the most important act of tennis : hitting the ball !
